Lifestyle as Medicine — Clinical expertise, lasting change — Bridging the health gap
Jackie was first diagnosed with hypertension in 2000, identified incidentally during a routine check-up. There were no symptoms to warn her — just a number on a chart that changed the course of her care. Lisinopril and Bendroflumethiazide brought her blood pressure under control, but the weight she’d carried for over two decades remained an unresolved, quietly exhausting part of her life.
In 2021, a routine blood test surfaced a second diagnosis: Type 2 diabetes. Ozempic was added to her regimen. By 2023, she’d been told plainly that all three medications were likely to be lifelong companions.
What the charts didn’t capture was what daily life had become. Jackie had cycled through diet after diet, plan after plan, with little to show beyond frustration. At her lowest points, running a bath felt like a chore too large to face, and the thought of jogging even a single block belonged to someone else’s life.

A Different Kind of Care
Jackie’s iWellness journey began in 2023 — not with another diet, but with a clinician-led, evidence-based programme built around her physiology, not a generic template. Her care included:
- Weekly one-to-one coaching with regular check-in reviews
- Monthly biometric assessments, including VO₂ max testing
- “Ask Me Anything” sessions to build genuine, lasting understanding of her own health
Over time, Jackie came to understand concepts most people never encounter clinically — metabolic health, physiological stability, and VO₂ max as a marker of longevity — not as abstractions, but as levers she could actually move.

The Results
The headline isn’t just the weight loss — it’s that Jackie achieved equivalent blood pressure control on roughly half her original medication, and moved her HbA1c from squarely diabetic range into the normal range, without any change in her diabetes medication dose.

Where Jackie Is Now
Jackie has completed her first 10K run. Her VO₂ max sits above the average for her age group. She has regained something harder to chart than any biomarker: freedom of movement, confidence, and a sense of ownership over her own body.
Her goal now is to continue working toward reduced reliance on medication for both conditions — and her trajectory to date gives her real reason for optimism.
